As the first full week of the Decade comes to a close I have been doing a lot of thinking.
At the beginning of each year me make resolutions, they may last all year or a hot minute we still do them. I know that I always do. It might be that I am going to be a better mom, I'm going to loose weight and eat healthy or I'm going to remember to do my blog weekly! It's usually big stuff that will change who we are.
For years I wasted so much time hating myself for not succeeding in my resolutions. As I got older I relaxed a little about it but I still drove myself crazy because I wasn't becoming who I was told I should be.
More recently I realized it's not necessary to reinvent yourself, unless you are a complete ass and then by all means go for it !! I'm not saying don't try to improve who you are, that is always a good thing, but don't try to remake yourself and for the love of all that is good don't make it a New Year's production, because that has FAIL written all over it. Do the small things, drink more water, spend more time with the people you love, spend less time with the people who make you feel like you have to change. Take a good. hard, honest look in the mirror, really look. I bet that you will realize who you see is pretty great and doesn't need to change. Improve sure, we could all improve, but to be the best person we already are not someone we have been told we should be like. No matter if it's the media telling us or someone in our live. If it is the latter they need to GO, You don't need that negitivity!
Growing up our momma's told us that we were special and they were right! There is only one you, don't change yourself, embrace yourself and love who your are naturally!
Have a Blessed week
